Week One 1-10-19

I spent week one pulling old photos together to create my webpage. I spent time in class experimenting with what I call "manual photo manipulation" in hopes of making some mixed media prints. I began to cut long strips out of a black and white photo of some trees to play around with the placement of different sections of the image.

Manipulated Version

This week I have mainly been working on my tree image. I finished cutting it up, rearranging, and gluing down to a new piece of paper. Once everything was glued down, I cut out the final image for a jagged finish. I plan on taking photos this week so I have new images to work with.

Week Three 1-24-19

I have spent this week taking new photos and working with another photo I am manipulating. I have been taking photos of things that catch my eye; anything really. I plan on collecting images of objects and cutting them out to make a new scene of my choosing. In my current project, I pixilated a photo of my dog and am cutting it into strips similar to the tree image.

Week Four 2-9-19

This week I have spent on a new project with the famous Birth of Venus painting. I first printed out the painting and removed the face of Venus and replaced it with the face of my beloved whippet, Pogo. Next, I cut the painting into horizontal strips. I then altered the spacing of the strips and glues them to my canvas. I did not cut up Venus, instead, I left her whole and glued her into the center of my work. I have yet to complete this project, but I will post an updated photo when complete.

Week Five 2-27-19

This week I completed my 'Birth of Pogo' piece. After evenly spacing out and gluing down the strips, I painted the white in between the strips gold for some additional flare. After completing my piece, I have been shooting photos for future projects and to better my photography skills.

Week Six 3-5-19

Lately, I have challenged myself to master the art of the self-portrait. Turns out, its a lot hard than I thought. In addition to my narcissistic photography, I finished another piece of mixed media art. It took me quite some time, but eventually, with a couple of setbacks, I was able to create this "masterpiece".

Week Seven 4-13-19

This past week I have been practicing my photography skills nonstop. I have been working mainly on controlling my depth of field.  I've been trying to capture the perfect nature photo that I am planning to weave into some of my old photos I took back in February. I usually start a project without a plan, and cut and manipulate as I work in ways that are visually pleasing to myself. In addition to cutting and manipulating my photos, I have also started to include other art media like paint. Wish me luck on my next project!

Week Eight 4-27-19

This week I completed one of my favorite projects. I call it Stargazing!

I started out with these two photos of mine and then proceeded to cut them into strips.

Next, I flipped one of the photos upside down and then attached the photos. Then, I splatter painted my final result with white paint.
